The most obvious (and pretty much only) difference is, of course, in the graphics. With all DLC missions included, take the fate of the war into your own hands, and hunt the Führer himself. Witness the terrifying power of your bullet as it enters an enemy’s body. Master authentic weaponry, stalk your target, fortify your position, set up the shot, and use your skill, patience and cunning to achieve the mission.Īll new graphics and rendering technology gives you improved X-ray kill camera detail. Stealth is key as you find yourself trapped between two desperate armies in a race against time. You must aid key scientists keen to defect to the US, and terminate those who stand in your way. Your mission is to prevent Nazi V2 rocket technology falling into the hands of the Red Army. You are elite sniper Karl Fairburne, parachuted into Berlin amidst the Germans’ final stand. If you aren’t familiar with these games, here’s a quick synopsis explaining the premise of the series and a couple of specifics about the remastering, courtesy of the Steam store page: That’s it - that’s the entirety of what’s new, if you don’t count the addition of previously paid DLC missions. The visuals have been remastered using more modern tools to update the look of what was a pretty dreary looking world to be a higher resolution dreary looking world. While not incredibly enticing, the name is an accurate description of the game. Before releasing number 5, though, Rebellion has released an updated Sniper Elite 2, which they have given the not all that imaginative name Sniper Elite V2 Remastered. Sniper Elite 4 is a rock solid game and the imminent Sniper Elite 5 will more than likely be even better. Consider the Sniper Elite series - each was good enough to warrant another sequel, and each sequel made significant improvement to gameplay, mechanics, and, of course, graphics. That rarely happens in Hollywood, and it rarely doesn’t happen with games. A number of reasons exist for that, and one of them is when the sequels are vastly better than the early releases. Video games can be considered a form of art, similar to good movies, in many ways, but one of those ways is not that they necessarily age well. It’s sad when creative studios lose their creativity.
